Bet On Sports to Close Costa Rica and Antigua Offices
9:18 am April 5th, 2007 Bet On Spoarts has announced the closure of their Costa Rican and Antiguan offices in the latest round of the ongoing drama. The move comes as the company is finding ways of dealing with the current technical restraining order imposed on them by the United States.
Bet On Sports has announced to its employees that it is closing down the Costa Rica and Antiguan offices.
The rumors of closing down had been circling since Monday in online tabloids.
The spokesman for the company has confirmed that the Bet On Sports management is closing down its offices and firing eight hundred employees.
No effective date for the termination was given.
The website of the company has been shut down since July 19 to partially comply with the restraining order of the U.S. Attorney’’s Office in Missouri.
The restraining order was extended to August 14, when another hearing for the technical restraining order is scheduled.
Another hurdle is the issue of whether the bets from U.S bettors can be refund to the customers.
The court orders the company to return all the money of U.S. account holders, but until now the betting company failed to comply.
According to Catherine Hanaway, U.S District Attorney, the U.S. government has the right to confiscate the money if the Bet On Sports organization does not return the money.
Bet On Sports had announced that the company is finding ways to return the deposits and wages as payment processors have stopped their business dealings with the company.
